FAQs

What counts toward my Reunion Class Gift?

All gifts and pledges to any area of Einstein during calendar year 2024 will count toward your Reunion class goal. The total amount of multi-year pledges, planned gifts, and bequests confirmed during your reunion year will also count.

Gifts made via the Reunion Giving website will show immediately. Gifts made by mail, phone or other vehicles will be added to the Reunion Giving website every Friday. Classes with the most donors, highest giving totals, and most Dean’s Society members will win bragging rights and be specially celebrated at Reunion in October.

Alumni making gifts of $1,500 or more to the Annual Fund will be recognized as members of the 2024 Dean’s Society, which celebrates the leadership and impact of generous donors who provide critical support to Einstein.

Can I pledge my Reunion Gift over several years?

Yes! You can make a pledge for Reunion payable over five years. A five-year pledge allows you to plan your personal philanthropy, helps Einstein plan for the future by providing steady income, cuts down on the number of annual solicitations, and keeps you connected to the school until your next reunion. Best of all, the sum of your five-year pledge counts toward your class gift!

Common five-year pledges include the following:

  • $100,000: Endowed Scholarship pledge of $20,000 annually for five years*
  • $50,000: Endowed Scholarship pledge of $10,000 annually for five years*
  • $25,000: Dean’s Sustainers pledge of $5,000 annually for five years
  • $7,500: Dean’s Society pledge of $1,500 annually for five years

* Limited time: Endowed scholarship commitments are currently being matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous donor. This means a $50,000 commitment will create a $100,000 endowed named scholarship, and a $100,000 commitment will create a $200,000 endowed scholarship.

Are there opportunities to make a greater impact?

Endowing a Named Scholarship:

Scholarships make a critical difference for students pursuing medical education. Alumni can impact students for generations to come by endowing a named scholarship. This year, named scholarships can be created with a gift of $50,000 or more, payable over up to five years, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous donor to create a $100,000-plus endowed scholarship.

For more information about the match or creating a scholarship in your name or honoring a loved one, please contact Min Um-Mandhyan at 718.430.4171 or min.um-mandhyan@einsteinmed.edu.

Legacy Gifts:

Legacy gifts are a meaningful way to honor Einstein’s history of medical education and research and help strengthen programs for future generations. There are several ways to create your legacy and benefit Einstein in your estate plans: a gift in your will, IRA charitable rollover, life insurance beneficiary designation, charitable remainder trusts, or a securities transfer.

We encourage you to explore this opportunity with Michael Divers, Planned Giving Officer, at 718.430.2685. He can help you design a gift that supports Einstein and fits your and your family’s goals. The full amount of a legacy gift made for the Reunion will be counted toward the class total.

Will my employer match my gift?

Many companies and organizations encourage charitable contributions through their matching-gift programs. To find out if your company will match your gift to Einstein, email us at development@einsteinmed.edu.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Federal Tax ID Number: 83-0621846) is a not-for-profit institution with a mission of preparing a diverse body of students to become knowledgeable, compassionate physicians and innovative scientific investigators, and to create new knowledge.

Does my Reunion Gift count toward the Dean's Society?

Unrestricted gifts to Einstein will count toward membership in the Dean’s Society for 2024. Dean’s Society membership is given annually to supporters making unrestricted gifts totaling $1,500 in a calendar year, or $250 for graduates of the last decade (2014 – 2024)
